Research shows that reading aloud regularly to your children helps them embrace a positive attitude toward reading and learning. A child's vocabulary, language, and comprehension skills increase. In addition, children who are read to aloud out-performed children who did not experience reading of stories.

3. How often should I read to my children?

Most parents set aside time at bedtime. However, anytime is a good time to read aloud to your children.

4. How long should I spend reading to my children?

Ten to twenty minutes is a good amount of time for young children. However, parents should always take advantage of teachable moments.
